Player Background
MVC All-Defensive outfielder who carried speed and center-field range into Michigan State
JT Sokolove reached Michigan State with a defensive reputation already established at Illinois State. His final two college seasons paired MVC All-Defensive recognition with aggressive baserunning, a 30-game reached-base streak and an extra-inning walk-off before Savannah signed him as a designated runner for 2026.
Background
Illinois State named Sokolove to the 2024 MVC All-Defensive Team, and the school’s official cumulative statistics show that he led the Redbirds in stolen bases that season. After transferring to Michigan State, he started all 53 games in center field in 2025, led the Spartans with 16 stolen bases and posted a 30-game reached-base streak. His second home run of the season was an 11th-inning walk-off against Ohio State, and Michigan State later announced that he had signed with Savannah as a designated runner.
