Player Background
A fractured back, two biology degrees and a 28-appearance Missouri State season shaped Riyan Rodriguez's route
Riyan Rodriguez had to rebuild his baseball path before he could extend it. Arkansas Tech says he recovered from a fractured back at Driveline, returned to college pitching and became a first-generation graduate before later completing a master's degree at Missouri State.
Background
Rodriguez helped Arkansas Tech reach an NCAA Regional in 2021, then transferred to Missouri State for his final college season. Working exclusively in relief there, he made 28 appearances, went 4-0 and struck out 61 batters in 54.1 innings while holding opponents to a .218 average. He was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and MVC All-Tournament Team. Arkansas Tech later reported that a video of him singing the national anthem drew Banana Ball attention after he had also been accepted to multiple medical schools.
