Player Background
Former No. 15 pick Jake Skole later posted back-to-back 23-homer seasons with Gastonia
Jake Skole's baseball timeline has an unusual interruption in the middle. Texas made him the 15th overall pick straight out of high school in 2010, and he spent seven seasons in affiliated ball. After a stint on Georgia's football roster, he returned to professional baseball and built another productive chapter in Gastonia.
Background
MiLB credits Skole with 496 hits, 35 home runs, 242 RBI and 74 stolen bases across his affiliated career. His independent-ball return became a different kind of offensive chapter: Baseball-Reference lists 23 home runs and 30 steals for Gastonia in 2021, followed by another 23 homers and 26 steals in 2022. The Atlantic League's record book also places him on the 2022 All-Defensive Team as an outfielder. Georgia's 2017 football roster confirms the other detour, listing him as a defensive back from Blessed Trinity.
