Garett Delano

Garett Delano earned All-SoCon honors twice in 2021 — at second base and as a starting pitcher

Garett Delano was not a token two-way player at Mercer. In the same season, the conference recognized him as a first-team second baseman and a second-team starting pitcher. National awards followed.

Background

At the plate in 2021, Delano led Mercer with a .337 average and 52 RBI while adding nine home runs and 13 doubles. On the mound he went 6-1 with a 4.32 ERA, 60 strikeouts and only 20 walks across a team-high 81.1 innings. That combination made him a finalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year and a D1Baseball Third-Team All-American utility selection; ABCA/Rawlings also placed him on its First-Team All-Region squad. After the college season, he signed with the Lincoln Saltdogs as a two-way professional player.
